Here is a selection of prayers for daily living. They come from many different sources and will be renewed on a regular basis.

A PRAYER FROM BISHOP ABRAHAM’S NOTEBOOK
Bishop Abraham was Bishop of St David’s from 1078 until his death during Viking raid in 1080.

O Lord God – Grant that each one who has to do with me today may be the happier for it. Let it be given me each hour goday what I shall say – and grant me the wisdom of a loving heart …that I may say the right thing rightly. Help me to enter into the mind of everyone who talks with me, and keep alive to the feelings of others. Give me a quick eye for little kindnesses that I may be ready in doing them – and gracious in receiving them. Through Jesus Christ, Our Lord.

THOUGHTS ON SAYING GRACE BEFORE A MEAL
(From the October Parish Magazine)
“For what we are about to receive…” – perhaps we need to use a more modern Grace than this one which always makes you think of the Victorian work houses.

Nothing irreverent but so serious as to cause teenage grandchildren to roll their eyes at one another across the table. It must be short and pithy or the aforesaid will have already started eating before we reach AMEN.

Here are a couple:-
Thank you Lord that we have this great food to eat together, and bless this bunch as they munch their lunch.

Thank you Lord for this food that looks delicious. May we all enjoy it and offer to help with the dishes.

A CHILD’S PRAYER
(submitted by Margaret Marsh and taken from the website www.nurseryrhyes4u.com)

Lord, as evening shadows fall
And I lay down my head,
I shut my eyes, as angels from afar
All gather ‘round my little bed;
And while I sleep, I trust you’ll hold my hand
‘Til morning greets the sky;
And then watch over me the whole day through
‘Til dusk is nigh, ‘til dusk is nigh.
