Love your library
“Books give a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything” – Plato

It has been an eventful few months since Hope library was saved from closure. In May 2016 management was transferred to a partnership between Castell Alun High School and the Friends of Hope Community library (FoHCL) and since then has maintained regular openings with professional support from the school library service supplemented by volunteers.

The location of our Community Library remains at Castell Alun.

The library is open to the public on
Monday 9:30am-12:30am 3pm-7pm
Tuesday & Wednesday 9:30am-12-30pm
Saturday 10am – 12 noon (from February 4th)

The original book stock has been increased with books from the school library and the original stock is regularly refreshed from Flintshire County Library Service. In addition we are in the process of ordering £1000 worth of new books so there is something for everyone!

Over the last few months the FoHCL has run a number of successful events which have featured in the local paper including Hetty Feather and Roald Dahl days;an art workshop and ending the year with a Christmas film show. We aim to run further events this year so please look out for our posters or visit our Facebook page or even better come down to the library and become a member.

Local Heritage Archive
There will be a launch event of this new facility
10am- 12 noon Saturday 25th February This will enable members of the community to see several documents of local interest and will also be accompanied with activities for all the family.

World Book Day – 4th March
We are planning a special event for World Book day on Saturday 4th March 2017.

The FoHCL have great hopes of developing the library service to the local villages and everyone is very welcome to come and visit and join [free]. So whether in these dark winter days a bit of escapism is needed or discover that special recipe the library has something for you. We look forward to seeing you.
