Flintshire Sews for Dress a Girl around the World – UK

First Meeting of Flintshire Sews Group in Hope Church Hall
The first sewers meet in Hope Church Hall

A Press Release from Peta Pendlebury

Monday night saw the first meeting of this group and 9 keen sewers turned up with their sewing machines (and a few overlockers!) to sew a simple toddler dress for the charity. By the end of the 2 hours several cups of tea and a few biscuits had been consumed, new skills had been learnt and several ladies had had a go on an overlocker for the first time which was a great success. Oh and 9 dresses were nearly completed. More time was the general cry and so from next month the group will be meeting for 3 hours (7-10pm) on the 4th Monday of the month.

Peta Pendlebury said “this is something I have wanted to organise for some time and it is great to finally do it. I love sewing but dressmaking can be quite a solitary hobby most of the time so it is lovely to have a chance to get together with other sewers and chat, sew and get to help a charity too”

“It has been great to have some people I don’t know amongst the group too. And we have several people who have contacted us via Facebook who want to sew but can’t make the meetings so we are going to keep them up to date with the patterns and they are going to support the charity from a distance!”

If you would like to join FlintshireSews at their next meeting on April 24th contact Peta on 07944 812730. You can also follow them on Facebook at www.facebook.com/FlintshireSews/ where you will get updates and links to patterns, videos of sewing tips and general guidelines for supporting the group and the charity.
